Cameron Mitchell’s Pearl restaurant begins hiring ahead of February opening

Cameron Mitchell’s first new venture in five years will arrive in early 2013.

The Pearl, 641 N. High St., is scheduled to open Feb. 5. Plans for the gastropub and oyster bar were announced earlier this year.
 
Columbus-based Cameron Mitchell Restaurants LLC will begin hiring staff for the 5,000-square-foot restaurant Dec. 17. The company announced its leadership team this week, tapping Amberlyn Heiney, most recently assistant general manager of Marcella’s, as general manager and Peter Chapman, most recently executive chef of Martini Modern Italian, as executive chef.
 
The Pearl is Mitchell’s first new restaurant brand since Marcella’s opened in 2007. The company has 18 restaurants under eight different nameplates, with the Ocean Prime chain (known as Mitchell’s Ocean Club here) accounting for the bulk of the locations. The company also operates two catering facilities in Columbus, the Darby House and the Ivory Room at Miranova, which opened this year.
 
“We believe this new concept is just the right complement to our current concepts,” Mitchell said in a release.
