I’m excited to announce that we are now pouring our second release of Cameron’s Cuvée, our exclusive private celebration wine. It has been an honor to collaborate once again with Trefethen Family Vineyards in creating this signature red blend.
Some of our most rewarding projects are those in which we have the opportunity to work with great partners to create something unique that is available exclusively to our guests. The family-owned, award-winning Trefethen winery is an ideal match for us in this endeavor – our companies share similar cultures, values and passion for what we do. Trefethen Winery is also renowned for its outstanding wines and its commitment to environmental, economic and social sustainability.
Our team worked closely with the winemakers at Trefethen throughout the project – from the idea’s conception to bottling the final product. We tasted numerous wines before carefully selecting the four varietals showcased in this blend and we are thrilled with the result.
Red blends and Malbec varietals have been increasingly popular in recent years, so we wanted to incorporate those elements into our signature wine. The wildly successful first iteration of Cameron’s Cuvée (French for blend) was built with Malbec being the most prominent grape blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Each vintage of Cameron’s Cuvée will be unique as the varietal makeup will change. This will allow the blend to continue to be compelling, but also reflect the quality within each varietal.
Our newest release – a ’13 vintage – is a perfectly balanced blend with vibrant aromas of fresh boysenberry and dark cocoa. Merlot steps to the forefront as the primary grape, giving deep flavors of chocolate and spice. Malbec adds softness, Petit Verdot enhances the lush body and Cabernet Sauvignon provides blackberry flavors and structure to the elegant finish. This medium bodied blend pairs perfectly with anything from grilled steaks and lamb to poultry and even a variety of seafood dishes.
Our third blend is already in the works. While in Napa Valley for our Leadership Conference last summer, all of our GMs had the opportunity to visit Trefethen and participate in its creation – it is now in bottle and maturing to be released next year. We look forward to sharing more about our experience with you.
You may enjoy our second Cameron’s Cuvée for a limited time at Ocean Prime, Mitchell’s Ocean Club, The Barn at Rocky Fork Creek, Hudson 29, The Guild House, Cameron’s American Bistro and Martini Modern Italian. We invite you to give it a try and tell us what you think.
